How to Replace the Inlet Water Filter

Steps

  1. Switch off and disconnect the water supply. Turn off the tap and disconnect the garden hose from the water inlet on the rear of the unit.
  2. Unscrew the inlet connector. The brass or plastic inlet fitting unscrews anti-clockwise by hand. If tight, use a cloth for grip — do not use metal tools on the connector threads.
  3. Pull the mesh filter out with pliers. The small cylindrical mesh filter sits just inside the inlet port. Grip its edge carefully with flat-nose pliers and pull it straight out.
  4. Push the new filter in. Take a fresh filter from the MV-JW-SP-FILTER pack and press it firmly into the inlet port until it sits flush. It should not protrude past the thread.
  5. Reconnect the inlet fitting and hose. Screw the inlet connector back on hand-tight, reattach the garden hose, turn on the tap and check for leaks before switching the unit on.

Replacement schedule

Replace the inlet filter every 6 months under normal use. If you live in a hard water area or notice reduced pressure sooner, inspect and replace more frequently. A clogged filter restricts flow and can cause the thermal cut-out to trip.
