Unusual Noise During Operation

Symptoms

Likely Causes

  1. Unit is on an uneven or resonant surface amplifying motor vibration
  2. Loose debris (paper, grit, packaging fragment) drawn against the intake grille
  3. Pre-filter or filter assembly not correctly seated after a recent replacement
  4. Foreign object inside the intake — common in households with small children
  5. Fan blade contamination — accumulated dust causing imbalance

Step-by-step Fix

  1. Move the P2 to a solid, flat surface (stone or hardwood rather than hollow wooden flooring). Motor vibration is normal at higher fan speeds — a resonant surface will amplify it significantly.
  2. Switch the unit off and inspect all four intake sides. Look for paper, plastic wrap, or other materials drawn against the grille. Remove anything found with a soft cloth or brush.
  3. Open the rear filter access panel. Remove the filter assembly and check that no debris has entered the housing. Reseat the filter firmly, ensuring all four corners are flush with the housing frame before closing the panel.
  4. With the filter removed, shine a torch into the housing and confirm no foreign objects are present around the fan opening.
  5. If the unit has not had a filter clean in over 3 months, accumulated dust on the fan may be causing imbalance. Replace the filter (part MV-FLTR-P2) and retest.
  6. Restart the unit and run on Auto mode for 2 minutes.

Still not working?

A grinding noise or noise that worsens over time indicates a bearing fault. Switch the unit off and contact support at support.monverta.com for a service assessment.
