Brush Roll Jammed or Not Spinning
Symptoms
- Floorhead makes a grinding or squealing noise during use
- Machine pulsing or cutting power to the brush roll
- Brush roll indicator light on floorhead shows red
- Visible reduction in cleaning performance on carpet
Likely Causes
- Hair, thread, or debris wrapped tightly around the brush roll
- A foreign object (clip, stone, elastic band) lodged in the brush housing
- Brush roll end caps are worn and creating friction
- The brush roll is not correctly seated after a previous removal
- Overheating due to a blockage further up the airpath
Step-by-step Fix
- Switch the machine off and disconnect the floorhead from the wand.
- Turn the floorhead over. Locate the brush roll access cover — press the two orange release tabs and lift the cover clear.
- Lift the brush roll out by the end caps. Do not pull by the bristles.
- Using the cleaning tool stored in the dock (or scissors), cut through and remove any hair or thread wound around the bristle rows and the end caps. Check both end caps for accumulated fibre.
- Inspect the brush housing channel for any hard debris (stones, clips, food). Clear completely.
- Check that the end caps spin freely. If they feel stiff or gritty, wipe with a dry cloth.
- Reseat the brush roll — the flat end goes to the left, the keyed end to the right. Press the cover back until both tabs click.
- Reconnect to the wand and power on to test.
Still not working?
If the brush roll spins freely by hand but the machine still cuts power to it, there may be a motor fault. Contact support at support.monverta.com for a service assessment.
