Loss of Suction
Symptoms
- Noticeably reduced pickup performance on both hard floors and carpet
- Machine sounds strained or higher-pitched than usual
- Debris left behind after multiple passes
- Suction feels normal at the wand end but weak at the floorhead
Likely Causes
- Dustbin is full and needs emptying
- Post-motor filter is clogged and restricting airflow
- Blockage in the wand, floorhead neck, or connection point
- Dustbin seal is not seated correctly after last empty
- Filter is damp — was washed and not fully dried before refitting
Step-by-step Fix
- Empty the dustbin. Even at 70–80% capacity, suction can drop noticeably. Press the red release tab, empty the bin, and rinse if needed. Allow to dry fully before reattaching.
- Remove the filter (located above the dustbin, behind the purple tab on the body). Hold it up to light — if it appears grey or opaque, it needs washing. Rinse under cold water until the water runs clear and leave to air dry for a minimum of 24 hours. Do not use a hairdryer.
- With the dustbin and filter removed, shine a torch through the main airpath. Look for any blockages — tissues, socks, and large debris are common obstructions.
- Disconnect the floorhead and wand. Look through each section to confirm no blockage. Push a broom handle gently through the wand if needed.
- Reassemble with a clean, completely dry filter and retest.
