Water Leaking from a Hose Connection

Symptoms

• Water dripping or spraying from the hose-to-gun connection
• Leak at the point where the high-pressure hose connects to the unit outlet
• Water pooling at the base of the trigger gun
• Connection appears seated but leaks under pressure

Likely Causes

1. Quick-connect fitting not fully engaged — requires a firm push until it clicks
2. O-ring on the connector is worn, cracked, or missing
3. Debris on the connector seating surface preventing a full seal
4. Hose end is cross-threaded (threaded connectors only)
5. Connector housing cracked from impact or frost damage

Step-by-step Fix

1. Switch off the machine and release trigger pressure. Disconnect the leaking connection completely.
2. Inspect the O-ring inside the quick-connect fitting. It should be a uniform black ring with no flat spots, cracks, or deformation. A replacement O-ring set is available from Monverta spares (part MV-OR-360).
3. Wipe the seating surface on both the male and female ends of the connector. Even fine grit can prevent a full seal.
4. Reconnect firmly. For quick-connect fittings, push until you hear and feel a distinct click. Pull back lightly to confirm it is locked.
5. Restore pressure slowly and check the connection at low pressure before moving to full pressure.
6. If the connector housing shows visible cracks, replace the hose or gun assembly. Do not attempt to seal cracks with adhesive or tape.
