Thermostat Shows Offline or Cannot Connect to App
Symptoms
- App shows device as "Offline" or "Unreachable"
- Wi-Fi icon on the thermostat display is absent or showing an error
- App changes do not take effect on the thermostat
- Thermostat operates locally but remote control does not work
Likely Causes
- Wi-Fi router was restarted or changed since the thermostat was set up
- The T1 is connected to a 5 GHz band; it only supports 2.4 GHz
- The router is out of range or signal is weak at the thermostat location
- The Monverta cloud service is temporarily unavailable
- The thermostat firmware needs updating
Step-by-step Fix
- On the thermostat, go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Check whether a network name is shown. If it reads "Not connected," the T1 has lost its Wi-Fi credentials.
- Restart your router and wait 2 minutes. Check whether the thermostat reconnects automatically — many disconnections are caused by a temporary router restart.
- Confirm your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz network. If you have a combined 2.4/5 GHz network, split the bands in your router admin panel and connect the T1 to the 2.4 GHz band specifically.
- In the app, go to Settings > Device > Reconnect and follow the steps to re-enter your Wi-Fi credentials.
- Check status.monverta.com to confirm there is no active service outage.
- If the device has a pending firmware update, the T1 will prompt you on screen — apply it and retest.
Still not working?
If the thermostat cannot be reconnected after the steps above, a factory reset may be required. Go to Settings > Advanced > Factory Reset on the device. Note: this erases your schedule. Contact support at support.monverta.com before resetting if you want assistance recovering your settings.
